Wat doen in CP na wijziging in custom.css?

Hallo,
Op de website van de ontwerper van de stijl die ik nu gebruik op m'n forum raadt die persoon aan om een custom.css te maken zodat mijn wijzigingen behouden blijven bij updates, dit bestand toe te voegen bij stylesheet.css alsook nog het volgende wat ik helaas niet helemaal begrijp. Kan u mij daarom es uitleggen wat ik precies hoef te doen bij aanpassingen?
"Now you can override any CSS class or place your custom code in the new file. The last thing you need to remember after doing some changes is refreshing style components. Go to Administration Control Panel, open STYLES tab and navigate through Templates, Themes and Imagesets. In each section click Refresh in a row refering to we_universal. If you don't wont to do it manually every time, you can enable Recompile stale style components option in Load settings on GENERAL tab."
